1. Were you happy with the reviews that were published? How do you feel about your week as Record Club captain?

I expected everyone else to rate this album 10.0. To that end, I was bitterly disappointed.

2. How was the variety of opinions? A wide range, kinda samey, or somewhere in the middle?

Every review was written very differently but the messages in each were nearly identical. Everyone appreciated the good music, but couldn't get into it, pretty much agreeing the music was objectively good but not much more than that. I was the strong outlier. It made me wonder what I'm missing. I have an intuition that LP themselves doesn't even like this album.

Because it's thrilling to see your name called out on PoYB: I appreciated Sunny praising LP's voice because to me that's maybe the best part of the record; I strongly agree with Allison about songs 1-5; I wish I could figure out if Nate's Walk the Moon reference is a major dis or a minor one; anyone who records a 20-minute-44-second recording of himself saying "Bailiff Ron" over and over is very far from being a miserable bastard, and I have now disproven Joe's final line of his review.

3. Were there any differing opinions that made you view the album in a different light?

I tried to look for the lack of soul and came up empty.

4. Was there anything about this album or this artist that you wished that people would've written about more?

Religious connotations (LP wears cross earrings, or at least used to, what does it all mean?), the lyrics in general, comparisons to other LP work, especially to the 1.4 BILLION views of the live "Lost on You" performance (probably an unreasonable request, a boy can dream).

5. How do you feel about your album choice now that the week is over? A success? Any regrets?

I feel great, there's no way I would have gotten into this artist without randomly drawing Allison as my pick. Thank you Allison and thank you LP and thank you Long Island for birthing such a seminal artist.

6. Any other takeaways from the reviews? Or from this experience in general?

I want to play music roulette like this more often. Give me a grab bag of artists I've never heard of to choose from and I'll be as happy as Cheyenne when she's volunteering at the senior center.

7. What is an improvement that Record Club can make that would enhance everyone's experience, either as a captain or as a listener/writer?

Paid travel for RC contributors to concerts, connections with PR reps to grant access to artists, a bonfire where we all get together and burn Reba's orange blouse.
