Yearlong Song Challenge, Day 35: Nate

Prompt: "The song that you're always reminded of whenever you see a particularly memorable family photo"

How Do You Burn?, 2022

If you don't have brothers, that's tough shit. Mine are the best. Here they are ten years ago, yesterday, tomorrow, forever. I don't know that I've ever hated anyone as intensely as I hated my older brother when I was a kid. He's great now. I was the best man at his wedding. He was the best man at my brother's. My younger brother was the best man at mine, and he really earned that title. There were so many needless logistics at my wedding, and if not for him, I have no idea if any of it would have come off. They've both got families now, four kids and two kids, and if I think about how long I lived my life away from them, how much I missed being somewhere else, it can overwhelm me. This, of course, is why memory is a curse and reflection is a trick. I'm back now, and we're together, and I get to add what's mine to what's theirs. I suggest having brothers, if you can.

Having at least one brother gets 2 Nates up, I think.
