I will be writing the same intro for each of the four weeks to make things as even and fair as possible.
We have split twelve people into four teams of three. Those teams picked an album each, and will be attempting to get as many people as they can to write reviews for the album they chose. They also paid money into a pot, and the team with the most reviews for their album wins the pot.
All twelve participants (plus me, your editor-in-chief Joe, as I am not on a team and will remain an impartial judge throughout) will have to write a review every week. So that's thirteen reviews each Friday at least. Hopefully not at most! You can write a review too! Reviewing albums is fun! Especially when three of your friends are holding a gun to your head and making you do it!

ABOUT: "Huey Lewis the man was born Hugh Anthony Cregg III on July 5, 1950, in New York City. He grew up outside San Francisco, and learned to play guitar and harmonica while hitchhiking around the United States and Europe. Team Fuck Yeah! cannot confirm or deny whether Huey Lewis carried a bindle and stole cooling pies off of windowsills during this time as well.
"Huey Lewis and the News was born on June 25, 1980, with the release of their debut album, Huey Lewis and the News. The band—consisting of Lewis, Chris Hayes (guitar), Johnny Colla (guitar/saxophone), Mario Cipollina (bass guitar), Bill Gibson (drums), and Sean Hopper (keyboard)—was originally called the American Express, but changed their name at the behest of their record label, who was concerned about a lawsuit from the similarly named credit card company.
"HLatN didn't achieve mainstream success until their third album, Sports, went multi platinum in 1984 and 1985. They would release six more albums after Fore!, the most recent being Weather in 2020. The band has never officially broken up, but discontinued touring and performing after Huey Lewis was diagnosed with hearing loss related to Ménière's disease in 2018."

"Before returning to the States to start his own band, Huey Lewis played harmonica for Thin Lizzy on their Live and Dangerous album, under the name 'Bluesy Huey Lewis.'
"Fore! and 'Hip to be Square' were, of course, both featured prominently in the movie American Psycho, which just got an excellent write-up over at Epimemeology.
"HLatN also famously battled with Ray Parker Jr. over the Ghostbusters theme, which was more or less a ripoff of 'I Want a New Drug' that, due to time and budget constraints, Parker Jr. wrote and recorded in basically a single weekend."

I usually don't include non-Record Club blog stuff in the "PREVIOUSLY ON" section, but this Team Battle Royale already had too many rules, and I wasn't about to micro-manage the Sunday write-up too. All four teams included non-RC stuff. It's all good. Plus, I'm glad we got to link to Epimemeology, which is worth your time.
A couple extra RC connections. 1) Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac shows up a couple times: he was in the chorus for "We Are the World"; he is on the Back to the Future soundtrack with Huey. 2) It's been a minute since I've seen or read either version of American Psycho, so I'm not sure if this made the movie or it was just a book thing, but Patrick Bateman is obsessed with a few musical artists, not only Huey Lewis and the News but also Genesis. 3) If some 49ers were on "Hip to Be Square," then that means this is the second time RC is listening to professional football players sing, after the Philadelphia Eagles.
