Listening to Huey Lewis and the News' 1986 album Fore! nearly forty years after its original release made this reviewer think: "Wow, this what I imagine a generic 1980s summer drive must have sounded like!" That is not necessarily a criticism, though.
Releasing one year after the band's profile-bumping tie-in with Back to the Future, Fore! capitalizes on what might have been a new wave of curious listeners to deliver an album that is mostly filled with up-beat, poppy tunes. While most of the tracks lack diversity, they do what they intend to do quite well, and (with radio-friendly lengths) never overstay their welcome, before shifting to another catchy pop song.
For those who still dose their heads in hairspray and wear neon pants, this album can be recommended. For those who do not really give a bee's bosom about the 1980s and just want to know if this album is any good... I'd say, yeah, it's alright.
