Dolly Parton is uniting all the septuagenarians for her rock 'n' roll album. Kelly Clarkson is continuing to rip through every RC alumni's catalog, including Adele, Destiny's Child, and Arctic Monkeys. Ted Leo's Hearts of Oak turned 20 years old yesterday. RC alumnus Rivers Cuomo stars in RC alumni Fall Out Boy's new video. Connie Converse remains missing.
Oh, and Record Club alumni the Philadelphia Eagles are in the motherfucking SUPER BOWL. Let's go!!!!!!

This is all about my father-in-law. On February 4, 2018, Melissa and I hosted our families in our one-bedroom apartment to watch the Super Bowl. I've never been more sober in my life. I knew I wanted to remember every second of that game. The entire time, Melissa's dad was nervous as hell. If you know him, Jim is as South Philly as they come. Italian guy through and through. He would never show his emotion as someone would or should. He sat there in true Philly fan fashion and said, 'They are going to lose. I can feel it.' This was seconds after Brandon Graham stripped the ball away from Tom Brady with just over two minutes left in the game. A true Philly fan. And it's hard to believe it finally happened for Philadelphia and the Eagles."

ABOUT: Daryl Hall and John Oates met in Philadelphia in 1967, when they were in their early 20s. I'm going to call them "Hall & Oates" because that sounds cooler, but you'll notice on streaming sites, their official artist name is "Daryl Hall & John Oates," which is decidedly less cool. Hall is the lead vocalist, while Oates is the lead guitarist. During their commercial peak in the late '70s and early '80s, they wrote most of their own songs, with help from Hall's songwriting girlfriend Sara Allen (not that one) and her sister Janna Allen. They have six #1 hits. Hall & Oates are still kicking around the legacy artist circuit, notably performing a quasi-annual festival in Philadelphia called HoagieNation.
DISCOGRAPHY: Voices is the ninth of eighteen studio albums. The bulk of that was in the '70s. They released an album every year from 1972 to 1982, a span of eleven years. Pretty impressive. Their most recent album is Home for Christmas in 2006, which I'm sorry to say is now ineligible for this year's RC Christmas Album Vote.

PREVIOUSLY ON RECORD CLUB: Here are the three dumbest "previously on" connections I could come up with, in order from kind of dumb to really dumb: 1) Hall & Oates joins Iron & Wine as the only RC artist with that sweet, sweet ampersand; 2) they met in Philadelphia when their rival musical gangs exchanged gunfire, which as far as I can remember means that they join Cam'ron on the short list of RC alumni that were shot at (though, to be fair, Cam'ron was actually hit); 3) Neil Jason has a songwriting credit on "Hard to Be in Love with You," and he also has a composer credit on the first three Pokémon movies, the second of which includes a brand new song by Weird Al called "Polkamon."
