At time of writing, this shit has less than five plays on YouTube, so if you check it out, congrats to you on being one of the first people in the world to check out this little slice of above-average darkwave.
What sends it for me—and this is present throughout the entire five-song EP, which is up on all streaming platforms now, you might as well check it out and feel the direct connection between artists and listener that can only come with hearing something no one else has—is the interplay between the drums and the guitars. Usually with this kind of moody indie-rock, the drums tend to sit further back in the mix and aren't nearly as active. Here, they're pushed right to the front with increased emphasis on the snare and the kick, which gives the whole thing more body and drive and acts as a counterbalance to the cloudy swirl of the guitars. It's straightforward, but it's mixture of textures give it more viscera than you're going to get from other goth-y guitar rock projects of its type (see: DIIV, the Ire, anything that draws back to Loveless in some way). This sounds like Cold Cave if Cold Cave was into pub rock. Neat little song that no one has heard except us. Tell your friends.
