Valtari, Sunny

I hardly knew anything about Sigur Rós except the name. My thoughts on Iceland we already talked about during Of Monsters and Men (in short: I like the little island and northern lights).

This slow, moody, foreign language album has been a friendly companion all week. It's good music to work to and/or space out to. I have no idea what they're talking about, obviously, or if there are any deeper themes to pull out other than the expansiveness that's sort of woven in. Title track "Valtari" is quite good, as well as the melancholic "Varðeldu" (imagine me trying to pronounce any of these). Though I'll be honest in that I'm not always sure where one track ended and another began.

P.S. Kudos to Gloria to the album art wall—a clever and cool concept.
