Yearlong Song Challenge, Day 48: Nate

Prompt: "...And now a song you would play if you were trying to end that party"

So much of emo's current wave feels like it's borrowing from the same handful of primary sources (granted, they're warping and distorting those sources in distinct and interesting ways, but the road all leads back to either something that twinkles or something that howls), ignoring a whole crop of alt-rock sad shit to ape from and iterate on. Fastener, for example, seems to land somewhere on a matrix that pulls Rainer Maria, the Promise Ring, and lesser Elephant 6 collective bands (Nana Grizol) to repackage those youth truths into a new class of children's revolution. I've always liked the idea that the real party starts once most of the partygoers hit the bricks, and if you would like to party to this shit, please send me an email and let's plan a three-hour event some time in the next four-to-six weeks so as to secure childcare.
