Joe does everything for a reason. I've never met a man who has more rules and ideas and general guardrails for fun. I feel like this song was chosen for a reason. Joe is a nostalgic and retrospective man. Here are my possibilities of why this song was essentially mandated on 11/21:
- Joe lost his virginity on 11/21/2007
- Joe lost his virginity on 11/22/2007 and this was the last song he heard before the event
- Joe lost his virginity on 11/20/2007 and this was the first song he played to celebrate
- Joe had his first Thanksgiving Eve at McNally's (underage, but that's part of the lore)
- Joe had the first planning meeting of Pike Hike and this song was playing
- Joe and his mom had a huge fight over fresh or canned cranberry sauce while he was home on Thanksgiving break, this song played in the background
- Joe had this song playing on his iPod nano as he snuck into the townhouses for the first of what would be many times
- It wasn't the Urinetown cast party but a few days later and they kept playing this song on repeat so Joe finally downloaded it
- Joe knew that Wicked would be hitting movie theaters today and needed to ensure that Sara, Bridget, Allison, and Maeve did not have a prompt that would make the YSC patrons listen to a quarter of a Broadway album

YES! I love this theory, and I wish I had thought of it. The real reason is a lot more pedestrian than that, and has nothing to do with Joe K*** lore, unfortunately.
I almost assuredly was getting drunk on 11/21/07, though not at McNally's, which was called Molly Maguire's at that point. I didn't enter that building until 12/1/09, my 21st birthday.
I didn't lose my virginity for another 161 days.
I've never owned an iPod Nano in my life, and I find it insulting that you'd think that my music collection could have ever fit on one of those little 8gb bitches.
I wish my mom would try to fight me about something like that, I would fucking destroy her.
I will most likely be staying home with the baby while the rest of 'em see Wicked.

The last line is calling to me like the green goblin's mask....which Wicked song will remind me of my grandma's sauce or a poppyseed cake...which would not be appropriate for the Macy's parade (feel like they've performed most)....wow, definitely used lyrics from Wicked for an AIM away message. The possibilities are endless!!!!
