"Title Track"
We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes, 2000

This past weekend, I went out to Turbotville, PA for a fantasy football draft. You can be excused for not knowing immediately where this is. It is about 20 miles southeast of Williamsport, PA, home of the Little League World Series. In fact, since our Airbnb was not opening up until 3 PM on Friday, my brother and I killed an hour or so that afternoon by going and checking out a little bit of the LLWS, and we can knock it off of our bucket list. Venezuela absolutely smoked Mexico in that game. The first Mexican pitcher lasted three batters, allowing all of them to score, and the second pitcher came in and his first warm-up throw was sailed about two feet over the catcher's head to the backstop.

This isn't to discuss youth sports too much. But in the middle of blood-red rural Pennsylvania, it was neat being in this environment. Residents of Williamsport are very proud of hosting the LLWS (as they should be), and I had a brief moment during the playing of these two national anthems. I know that, demographically and socio-economically, this is Trump country. But seeing all these locals standing, removing their hats, and remaining in reverent silence to the anthems played (in the service of these children, basically) was a pretty cool thing to be a part of.

I'm not going to recommend the Little League World Series as some sort of destination in and of itself, unless you have a child who plays and is of that age. But if you find yourself somewhat inexplicably nearby, it's a neat box to check off.

At the Little League complex, I also had what was termed a "Hot Plate" from the food stand, which was a piece of roast beef covered in Cheez Wiz served hot over cold macaroni salad. Reader, it was actually pretty good, but let's just say it didn't end well. 24 hours later, I was drafting Christian McCaffrey first overall. In short, Turbotville is a land of contrasts.

I can't speak to baseball or to football or to hot meat and hot cheese over cold pasta, but I have heard on the down low that the swingers scene in Williamsport is off the chain.

If you're headed for Williamsport from the Greater Philadelphia Area, stop off at Lewisberg for a few hours. College town where Bucknell is located. Very picturesque. Lovely town green. You know the deal.

Rochester NY is built on hot meat over cold pasta, so this weird meat dish sounds fine by me.
