It's Not Too Late: YSC, Day 119: Brianna

Prompt: "A song that has the word 'song' in the title"

Selected by Brianna

"Fight Song"
Nordista Freeze
single, 2020

I know, I know. You came searching through the abyss that is "The Late Section" in hopes of this exact moment. A random woman's ranking of official sports fight songs (by name only, which she found on a list in Wikipedialand).
  • "Spider Born" for the University of Richmond: (9/10) — It only lost a point because it becomes a lot less awesome once you realize they're the Richmond Spiders.
  • "Give My Regards to Davy" for Cornell University: (6/10) — Kind of charming, but Andy Bernard made me weary of most things Cornell. Who is Davy, anyway? And why do I feel like he owns a Confederate flag?
  • "Here's to Elon, Let's Win the Game!" for Elon University: (1/10) — Speaking of people ruining things.
  • "Rearing, Tearing" for Lehigh University: (8/10) — Love the energy, but I do have some questions.
  • "Goodnight, Poor Hahvahd" for Yale University: (7.5/10) — I don’t know why Yale needs six fight songs, but I do enjoy that they made one that makes fun of a rival's accent.
  • "Cowboys Stampede March" for the Dallas Cowboys: (0/10) — The zero stands for Cowboys Super Bowl wins since I turned four. Fuck Dallas!
  • "The Autumn Wind" for the Las Vegas Raiders: (6/10) — The Las Vegas Raiders having such a delicate, pretty sounding fight song name is making me feel insane. I gotta go listen to this thing.
And last, but certainly not least...
  • "Fly, Eagles, Fly" for the Philadelphia Eagles: (52/10) — Perfection. GO BIRDS!
