Pam needed my help drinking a bottle of wine, so I poured a big fucking glass of cabernet sauvignon instead of cracking a beer (I haven't had a beer all weekend, what's wrong with me?). I don't give a fuck about wine. In fact, I've been chronicling the reasons I think wine is inferior to beer every time by drink of the day ends up being wine (see: one, two, three). Here's another reason.
Reason #4
I hate that it is social unacceptable to drink wine right out of the bottle.
Wine glasses seem so snooty to me. The long thin stems, the oblong receptacle perched perilously on top, just asking for some clumsy vino neophyte to knock the whole glass over, the innate desire to hold one pinkie out as you delicately grasp your drink, I hate it all. I wish I could just drink wine straight from the bottle.
I have, and I probably will again, but drinking wine out of a bottle is a sign that your life is in shambles. I'm not trying to give the wrong impression.
