Before listening to The Innocents, I already had a lot of love for “A Little Respect” and “Chains of Love.” After listening, I still maintain that those two songs are without a doubt two of the best songs to come out the '80s, and the rest of the album was more than a bunch of duds, which is kind of what I expected only ever hearing the two big hits. I even enjoyed some of the slower, less poppy songs. The Innocents embodies that '80s synth sound so very well that it made me nostalgic for a time that I wasn’t really a part of.
