I love the idea of a "beer drawer for guests." Basically, you take the smallest drawer in your refrigerator, and make it exclusively for an assortment of craft beers. When a guest comes over, you can just pull the drawer out and let your guest take their pick. It works because you can offer nice beers and still let your guest have their pick of preference. It makes you a good host. And as your humble guest, yes, I would love to choose a single beer out of the drawer, if that's okay with you (though, seriously, I'll drink anything you're trying to get rid of, let me know).
Do I even need to explain the other reason why being a guest in someone's home feels so good right now? Assuming that everyone is safely distanced and/or masked, going to someone else's house feels so fucking refreshing, and so new. Seeing a guest beer drawer is just the cherry on top.
Throw it on the pile of micro-aspirations for the new house—I want to build up a nice beer drawer in my fridge, so that when having guests over becomes the norm instead of something risqué, I'll be able to be a good host. For now, much appreciation for allowing me to be a guest in your home.
