It is right to acknowledge that this kind of replacement-level R&B remains a persistent blind spot. To put Lloyd in terms more familiar, my understanding of his work based off the songs on this album and the minimal star power attracted to the project (Lil Wayne is here), I have to assume Lloyd's equivalent in the punk world is, say, Lucky Boys Confusion or Autopilot Off: a regional also-ran with enough juice to be beloved locally and maybe open for some bigger names on a run, but not really enough firepower to let him punch with the big boys. Never hungry, but never full. The Cincinnati Reds of R&B from the 2000s. Next.
