I had been a fan of Mac Miller since I was a freshman in college, and was truly devastated when he passed away. Accidental overdose. How many times do we hear that? Too many to even count... It's so crazy to me that we were the same age when he died. I remember waking up for a nap before working night shift to that news, and I just cried. I felt as though I had so many great silly times listening to his music and seeing him in concert, and then he was just gone. Another prolific artist whose substance use disorder took him way too soon.
Anyways, this song is off his last album and is just easy to listen to. What is he talking about in the song? Is he talking about his lost love (Ariana Grande) or potentially his love for illicit substances? It's a lot easier to look into these lyrics now knowing what his eventual fate would lead him. I miss him, and this prompt really kicked me into a Mac Miller listening era, which is always a great place to be.
