Yearlong Song Challenge, Day 9: Brianna

Prompt: "A song involving the smoking of one or more cigarettes"

Selected by Brianna

"Cigarette Daydreams"
Cage the Elephant
Melophobia, 2013

The average person takes six minutes to smoke a cigarette. Personally, I can think of no worse way to spend those precious minutes, so I decided to use those prompt to tell you ten things you could do to better your life in six minutes, rather than waste them through poisoning yourself.
  1. Listen to "Cigarette Daydreams" by Cage the Elephant two times. You'll feel uplifted and find some peace of mind, maybe even an answer in the pouring rain?

  2. Drink a glass of water. It's good for you!

  3. Touch your toes or other various stretches. Did you know the average person begins the long road of back pain at the start of their thirties?

  4. Text or call a friend you haven't talked to in a little while. Life's too short to grow apart from the people you care about.

  5. Complete the daily NYT mini-crossword puzzle. And then add me as a friend on the app so we can compete against each other on the leader board.

  6. Learn a new recipe on basicswithbabish.com! I'm a firm believer that good food makes life worth living, and being able to provide it for yourself will help your wallet and overall health.

  7. Play a round of GeoGuessr. I may be biased as a social studies teacher, but using context clues to test your knowledge of global culture and geography sure is rewarding!

  8. Do a quick chore you've been putting off, and make the future you a grateful you. Once one thing is marked off that to-do list, it's hard to stop the momentum!

  9. Start learning a new language on Duolingo. I'm tired of hearing that Americans are dumb for not knowing anything outside of English—let's prove them wrong!

  10. Nothing. Sitting in some peace and quiet, doing nothing at all, is sometimes exactly what the doctor ordered.
