Prompt: "The least appropriate song to play at the lighting of the Olympic torch"
Selected by Pat
"Oh Sookie"
Snoop Dogg
single, 2009
F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote: "There are no second acts in American lives." Well that piece of shit never met Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., a.k.a. Snoop Dogg.
No one has ever flipped their image like Snoop Dogg. Twenty five years ago, he was fresh off an acquittal for first-degree murder and directing pornos. Now, he's America's Uncle. He has a cookbook that my sister uses ALL THE TIME. And tomorrow night, he'll not only be one of NBC's chief broadcasters for the opening ceremonies, but will literally be carrying the Olympic torch.
I want to be clear: I'm not criticizing Snoop. He's a tremendously charismatic guy and an entrepreneur. There's nothing wrong with leaving the streets behind and becoming a beloved recurring character in the stage play that is America. But his evolution is undeniably weird. To reflect this, I vote that we play "Oh Sookie"—Snoop Dogg's tremendously horny promo for True Blood—at the opening ceremony. It would probably ruin the event and outrage the French, but it would allow me (and only me) to appreciate what a strange trip Snoop has taken.

I'm enjoying the weird non-stage names for these artists your posts have been providing me with lately.
The Snoop Dogg / Martha Stewart cooking collabs have been a real meeting of the redeemed minds
