It’s hard to describe King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard to anyone who doesn't know them.
Their name, for one, tends to throw people off by virtue of being kinda long and pretty weird. Do they dress as kings or lizards or wizards on stage? Now, they do like to dress up on occasion, but not really as any of those things, and especially not as a brand statement—though, of course, you'll find a couple wizards and lizards in the crowd at their shows (likely the guy in the mosh pit going the hardest you've ever seen someone go).
Then there's the actual music. As one of the most productive bands in recent history, these Australian fellas have released: 26 studio albums, 16 live albums, three compilation albums, one remix album, three extended plays, 59 singles, and 60 music videos in the span of fourteen years. No one, and I mean NO ONE, is doing this. The real kicker? Almost none of those albums sound the same. Each one is it's own unique genre and style.
Nonagon Infinity is probably my favorite of the bunch so far (though Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava is a close second). I featured the opening track in another submission, and highly recommend giving the run from that song to "Gamma Knife" a try, as the album itself operates as almost one continuous track, bobbing and weaving through different tempos and tones tied to a central theme of straight-up rock awesomeness.
The band releases a new album this summer and from the first single released, it seems like it'll be of a new genre once again. This girl cannnnnnooooot wait to see what's next!

If I had to choose between 57 new King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard albums in the next ten years, or one single album that is anywhere close to being as good as Nonagon Infinity, I'd choose the latter in a heartbeat.
