Pam got angry at me at a wedding the other night (not really, but it's funny to frame it that way) because I tried to convince the bride to join Record Club. But I didn't actually. Not really. I was just asking her about any creative writing she might be doing these days. I'm just looking out for a friend. Creative writing can be cathartic if you let it. Record Club is just one way to go about it.

The song is very fun and catchy, and it led me to become a fan of their larger catalog as I waited for the full album release. Blame My Ex is fun indie pop/rock, and the songs run the gamut of emotions felt after a breakup. There is a good mix of upbeat and slower songs, plus the album run time is so short that it's very easily digestible! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do."

ABOUT: The Beaches formed in 2013 in Toronto, Canada. Jordan Miller plays bass and sings lead. Her sister, Kylie Miller, plays guitar and does backing vocals. Leandra Earl does keys, guitar, and backing vocals. Eliza Enman-McDaniel is the esteemed drummer. Three-fourths of the members were previously in a band called Done with Dolls (which is best known for doing the theme song to the Canadian TV show Really Me), but once Leandra replaced a member, they became the Beaches (named after the Toronto neighborhood). Their debut album, Late Show, won them the Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year (the Junos are basically the Canadian Grammys).

DISCOGRAPHY: Blame My Ex is technically only their second LP after Late Show, with a six-year gap that the band attributes to COVID. But there are also four EPs scattered around in there, plus the 2022 compilation Sisters Not Twins (The Professional Lovers Album), which put together the two most recent EPs into one release.
