Do you love Beck? I need all my questions answered. For roughly 25 years, I thought I loved Beck. He has an awesome voice. Futurama highlighted him. He was cool as hell.
I was not ready for this album. It felt like Beck said, "I have seven tracks. What can we do?" And his producer said, "I have a great idea. We're going to have every other track be some weird shit that sounds like you're on a trip or just fucking with the amp."
And that's what this album was. I don't know what to bring out of it. Literally I've gone, "This is amazing. I love this." Immediately I think, "This sucks ass."
In all actuality this album, taking out the nonsense, is amazing.
But that's not what the end game is. So let's talk big picture. It's okay. I want more. Most importantly, I want more actually songs and less nonsense.
I'm still curious if I actually like Beck or if I'm just into the idea of Beck. Either way, I appreciate the opportunity to review a head from Futurama.
