It's amazing to me that I did not get more invested in musical theatre or theatre in general. I was born in 1985, which means Thriller was already out for a few years when I was born and Michael Jackson was the biggest star on the planet. I LOVED MJ. When I was like, five years old through eight, I was borderline obsessed with him. This was also, though, the time where Mr. Jackson was in a little bit of legal/PR trouble. I have a memory of crying to my mom because people were saying Michael Jackson was a child predator.
ANYWAY, it wasn't really at an assembly or recital, but I used to demand my family and friends' families sit around and watch me try to dance like Michael Jackson. My family still uses this as something to kinda make fun of me for, but the fact that I avoided becoming a musical theatre diva is, in my mind, something to be proud of, akin to my sobriety.
