Held Accountable — Day 16

I'm not officially "intermittent fasting," but a day like today made me believe in its power. I saw a chart one time that listed all the zeitgeisty diets these days, IF and keto and all that shit, and all of them with "explanations" about how they work, and each of them had the same explanation: "put you in a calorie deficit." My concern with IF is that I'd have an eight-hour window but eat like shit during those eight hours. I'm sure people attempt this, and I'm sure it ends up relatively unsuccessful.

But then I have a day like today, when IF happens almost accidentally. I don't wake up to go to the gym, so I sleep till 6:15, so I have 30 minutes to get my shit together, so I skip breakfast. A lame-ass work meeting pushes my lunch till 10:30. Dinner's at 4:45. I'm not even really hungry for dinner, though of course I ate because I'm not that unhungry. But then so it ends up being that I really only had to survive from 9-10:30 being really, really hungry. The rest of the day, I felt satisfying. And even with some healthy snacks during the evening movie, I was well under the calorie ceiling. So it's all of a sudden easy for me to understand why and how intermittent fasting could work for someone. As long as you're disciplined with the food that you're eating in that window, then I think the window provides a really strong framework for maintaining calorie limits, almost accidentally.

Anyways, those are just some idle thoughts for my sixteenth day here. Feeling good.
