My big pet peeve is the existence of "feels like" temperatures, which are different than actual temperatures. The whole point of the local news broadcast weather report is to inform us what is gonna feel like outside. Why even bother with regular temperatures? Just give us the "feels like" and be done with it.
It felt like 100 degrees today.
The irony of it is that I spent very little time outside. Which is a privilege mostly, even though being stuck in a windowless office feels more like a curse sometimes. I received a few texts from kith and kin who were traveling around under the sun, telling me how hot it was, but by the time I stepped outside myself, I was so frozen from overcompensating AC units that the "feels like" temperature was more like: thaw.
I was still pretty hot by the time I got to the subway entrance, four blocks away.
It takes a lot longer for the underground tunnels to heat up, so there are a great respite from the heat from early May through late June. When I think about Race/Vine, I think about how wet it always is, like something is dripping somewhere perpetually, or the mopper on call is overzealous with the mopping. But maybe in these next months I'll be thinking about how cool it is too.
Kinda funny to think about how the first like 40 pictures in this project all had snow in them.
