In My Place 192

I don't want to live a life in which work invades everything. Like I don't want to be sitting at a minor league baseball game obsessing about one of my unit's child abuse cases. That feels like a small life. I want to live big. I think there's room for work in that. Like today, I had the sudden, lightning-like inspiration to check where this one house was, a house out in the sticks that has been on my one worker's radar all week and is essential to visit and is just too damn far away to get to easily... it was thirteen minutes from this stadium. My wife, kids, and boss all gave me permission to swing by and do the ol' safety check while in my Iron Pigs gear. I feel like I achieved something, ya know? And this was by grafting work to pleasure in a shockingly healthy way. I can do this. I can find the balance that eludes so many. And then I can eat bacon on a stick afterward.
