—What's that? Okay folks, sorry, I am being informed that there was an issue with yesterday's Fourth of July In My Place, that maybe SOME people would rather I spend my time writing about the scene in the picture instead of doing performative ACAB shit-talking. Well to those people I say HELL NO, I'm gonna talk shit on cops all I want. FUCK THE POLICE. I'm doubling down today, motherfuckers.
I had to call 911 AGAIN today, because that stupid fucking wire was still on the goddamn ground. No one's done anything about it. I still don't know if it's a live wire. I'm not gonna touch it and kill myself because the cops refuse to do their jobs. Absolutely ridiculous that the cop the other day just drove away like a fucking asshole. I called PECO, and they apparently aren't doing anything either. And there the wire sits. So I called 911 again.
But this time I amped it up (pun not intended). I gave the address of next door, which is city-owned property. I said that it was sparking. I said that it was a live wire. I said that I have no idea how the rain affected it. And I said that I am just passing through, so no, you can't have my information, but someone better get out here QUICK. I stopped short of saying that an off-duty officer was shooting at the wire due to the color of the wire, though that would have gotten them out there even faster.
As it turns out, the firemen AND the cops came out this time. I let them look around for a while, then asked them if they were looking for a live wire, and directed them to the wire in question. They asked if I called and I said no. I said it's been here for days now and the cops didn't do anything and now there's a live wire in the goddamn alley next to my house. The firemen claimed it was a cable wire, not electric. They kicked the wire to the side, and said they would tell a lieutenant, and then drove away. The cop didn't even get out of the car.
So there's the wire again. Maybe if it's still there tomorrow, I'll make that my photo of the day. Maybe if it's there the day after that, I'll get wire cutters and cut the wire and take the coin-flip chances of dying. I was trained from an early age not to touch a wire that's lying on the ground, and yet here in adulthood, no one seems to want to back up that lesson with any real action. I say fuck the police. Public safety my fucking ass.
That BLT was good though.
