Met Zach in person tonight.
That's not technically true, I've been in his proximity a couple times, but this was the first time we've hung out in person since he started writing regularly on this blog two years ago.
FINAL VERDICT ON MEETING INTERNET FRIENDS IN REAL LIFE: It's cool to know/confirm that you can get a sense of who someone is just by reading a million words that they've written on the internet about themselves and their outlook on life.
FINAL VERDICT ON TRYING TO WRITE ABOUT MEETING INTERNET FRIENDS IN REAL LIFE ON THE BLOG: More difficult than you'd think, but there's no pressure here, except that Zach would kill me if the brief In My Place blog post today didn't mention the fact that we hung out in real life.
Cheers to Zach. I'll stop there so that I don't have to affix an "emo" blog tag to this post.

I also don't know how to write about meeting friends. But all I can say is - what a cool moment. I'm still processing last night but I realized I was on a kind of high the whole time - I feel like the energy carried me along, like a wave, from the beginning of the night to the end, in a way that the structure of most evenings doesn't allow for.
It was super cool to hang and super fun and a unique experience to meet, one that I'm not sure I've ever had before in life. And I second what you said - that it's cool how the thousands of words we've spilled here add up to something that actually makes sense, that feels validated.
Basically - had an awesome time and I wish it was more often! But I appreciate what we got.
And let the record show that I would not have killed you, I would have just written a 1,000 word emo-tagged post about the first time "In My Place" committed a blatant oversight.
