If my life was a movie, then perhaps this particular panorama might cause the main character (me) to sweat a little bit over the conundrum that he had created in his mind, whether to pull a U-turn from this gas station and take his toddler kid into the bar adorned with holiday decorations—for it is St. Paddy's Day weekend after all, what's the harm in one, or maybe two, after three years, goddamn—or going to the deli as planned, buying some last-minute supplements for the planned homemade breakfast birthday feast, then going right home and beginning the preparations, of sound mind and all that, etc. and so on. Life is not a movie, however, and so the choice was clear, never wasn't. It's a beautiful scene, though, ain't it? Good to make the right choice, even if the choice is retroactively concocted after the fact.
