Alright... so... Let me start by saying Ed Sheeran is actually from England, not Ireland. My bad. Although his dad is Irish, so he is technically Irish... not to mention being a redhead and singing songs like "Galway Girl." For some reason I thought he had an Irish accent, but no.
Anyway, St Patty's Day is what prompted the Ed Sheeran selection as I stood on business saying that "Castle on a Hill" is a true boppity bop. I must also say that I wasn't a fan of Ed Sheeran when he first came out. I hated "The A Team" and really kind of shit on Ed Sheeran. However, quite some time has passed, and Ed Sheeran is still doing his thing. ÷ came out in 2017 which is almost TEN years ago. Seems like just yesterday. His first album came out in 2011. Holy smokes. Ed has been around for a long time. I feel like he has evolved quite a bit as an artist and has really earned himself some respect in my book for his talent. I also think he seems like a genuine guy. He's done a lot of collabs as well—even with Beyoncé and Tay Tay, which gives him tons of bonus points in my book, as well as Eminem and Cardi B.
So to the actual review of the album. Overall, I thought it was enjoyable, but nothing crazy. It was pretty run-of-the-mill pop. On the other hand, I enjoy a good ballad, and this album was full of them—dare I say TOO many ballads. Some were a little corny for my taste (looking at you, "How Would You Feel (Paean)"), but some were really sweet and sentimental ("Supermarket Flowers"). I would prefer a cheesy ballad over Ed's weird rap song intro, "Eraser" (yucky, no thanks). The only thing that got me through the first track was the way Ed said the word "eraser." Well, that and knowing that "CASTLE ON A HILL" was after it. I also need to say that I hated—absolutely hated—"Barcelona" and "Bibia Be Ye Ye." Couldn’t even get through them. This album should have been thirteen songs, not sixteen, and it would have gotten a better review from me.
But anyway, it was mostly enjoyable for my drive into work and back. I can do a little basic pop on a Monday.

Agree here on a few points—the rap intros were odd (especially to kick off the album), and it’s too long. However, there are probably 5 or 6 huge hits here. With some minor changes, this would be truly classic pop album
