Whew. That was something, huh? Two Degrees of Record Club is over. Let's get back to have the members of Record Club pick their own goddamn albums. Maybe we'll even get to listen to some new music! What a novel concept!
To ensure a smooth transition, I have chosen the album, and I have chosen an artist you may know, and an album that was just released two days ago. Let's do what Record Club was designed to do, and explore this bitch together.

READING SOME SHIT: The conceit of this album is that each song was inspired by a film. So start with the Wikipedia page for a handy list of all fourteen films that served as inspiration. And then move onto this conversation with both artists for AnOther.
PREVIOUSLY ON RECORD CLUB: It's been a while since we've done this Record Club trope—a collaborative album between an artist you probably already know and an artist you probably don't. We previously reviewed albums by Jim James and Teddy Abrams, Jens Lekman and Annika Norlin, and Iron & Wine and Calexico. All of those were in 2019 though, so it's good to get back to it. Another 2019 album connection—this album was conceived and written in a cabin owned by Bryce Dessner, who plays guitar and keyboard for the National (also twin brother to Taylor Swift's new bestie, Aaron Dessner). And finally, of all of the movies that served as inspiration for these songs, at least one of them is Record Club member's favorite of all time, and another one is a sequel to a favorite of all time, but I'll leave you to figure all that out by yourself.
Happy listening, fam! Have a great week!
