This is what I want to listen to more of in 2020.

Not specifically James Taylor, or even specifically easy listening folk rock. This is a wonderful song, simultaneously lighthearted and full of heart. And yeah, it reminds me of Remember the Titans, as lame as that is. The rest of Sweet Baby James more or less follows this formula. It made for GREAT breakfast music last weekend when me, Pam, and Willow sat down for some pancakes and bacon.

No, what I mean by listening to more of this in 2020 is that I don't want to be beholden to the necessity of keeping up with new music anymore. It can be fun when amazing music is coming out, but it can be exhausting having to slog through a whole bunch of mediocre bullshit to find those diamonds.

I just want to follow my muse. If a '70s folk rock album speaks to me for whatever reason, I want to listen to that. I'd rather listen to James Taylor because I want to than listen to Anonymous Indie Rock Band #9683 because I feel like I have to.

I know I put pressure on myself to "keep up with the Joneses," as they say. That's dumb. Listening to music should be fun. It shouldn't be a chore. So yeah, fuck it. It's not too early to talk about New Year's Resolutions, right?
