Album of the Week: Hello Exile

2019's new music in-flow has slowed to a trickle, as everyone prepares for the end-of-the-decade Listmas. But Record Club continues on, so get ready to dive into some older albums as we get closer to the December. (Also, we should start thinking about what Christmas album we'll be reviewing!)

All that being said, here's a brand-spanking-new album from one of my favorite local artists. Check it out below (or rediscover T-Pain in the archives along the right sidebars).

WEEK 36 — October 6-12, 2019

What we're listening to this week (Joe's pick):

ALBUM: Hello Exile
ARTIST: The Menzingers

RELEASED: October 4, 2019

WHAT GENRE IS THIS: American punk rock

WHY JOE PICKED IT: Sometimes I need to pick an album that I know that I'm going to really like. There's fun in picking Ashlee Simpson; there's comfort in just staying in my lane. Though who knows, maybe this album will be shit, I don't know. Let's find out together.

TRACKLIST:
  1. America (You're Freaking Me Out)
  2. Anna
  3. High School Friend
  4. Last to Know
  5. Strangers Forever
  6. Hello Exile
  7. Portland
  8. Strain Your Memory
  9. I Can't Stop Drinking
  10. Strawberry Mansion
  11. London Drugs
  12. Farewell Youth
READING SOME SHIT: If I'm picking the album, I can usually type these things up over a week in advance, so if there have been any new interviews with the Menzingers in the past week, you'll have to seek 'em out yourself. This in-depth interview with Atwood Magazine is the most recent I could find at the time of preparation. Luckily it's pretty good.

Happy listening, fam! Have a great week!
