Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, Sunny

I realize I've heard about Limp for so, so long. There were those kids in school who had a certain aesthetic and loved to write Limp Bizkit in various fonts all over their notebooks and paper covered texts. Because of their aesthetic and the font's aesthetic, because of Fred D, because of the legend of Woodstock '99, because of the uniqueness in band name, and album name, et al.

And so to meet the source material, finally, and recognize it as, uh, rap rock? Was a surprise. A surprise indeed. There was an evolution from surprise, to distance, to contemplation, to a certain level of enjoyment. I don't totally get all the sampling, the creatively named tracks, and the balance between rap, rock, and rap-rock, but also there are times where they're just screaming and jamming and I totally understand how this taps into a certain vein of emotion in a seminal way. I can't imagine when I'll be back for more.
