READING SOME SHIT: Here's an excellent recent interview with WoD frontman and mastermind, Adam Granduciel.
PREVIOUSLY ON RECORD CLUB: On a literal level, we can mention Kurt Vile, who at one point was a member of the War on Drugs (but a really long time ago, before they split and took their respective projects in completely opposite directions). But on a deeper level than that, I want to mention that it is so fucking rare that we cover an album such as this in this particular context. I'm talking about an extremely popular non-pop artist who is known well in the music blogosphere audiophile circles I travel in, and a feverishly anticipated next album from said artist, and (crucially) in the same week that the album is released. Has this ever happened before? The last I can think of is Run the Jewels 4. Honestly, that might be the only other one. So thank you to Dwyer, who didn't let the fact that a previous pick of his "sounded like the War on Drugs" stop him from picking the actual War on Drugs this week. Let's do this shit!!!!
