Harry Styles (and his producers, managers, stylists) know EXACTLY what they're doing. Fine Line goes down oh-so-easy. It was an early-pandemmy album on regular rotation for moi. In such a dark time, it was, as Harry croons, "golden." And you know what? It still holds up two years later into this godforsaken era.
"Watermelon Sugar" keeps you in those hot hazy summer days even in the dead of winter. (This song just DOES something to women of a certain age. He's selling us a fantasy and I'm buying it!) I get why the kids fall so hard for him, I really do. Now, "She," on the other hand, that's for us grown ups ifyouknowwhatimean. Go ahead, Olivia Wilde!!!
BTW the video for "Adore You" is cuckoo and you should watch it if you haven't yet... it was another impossibly fun thing to come out of COVID times.
And really, that's what Harry Styles is here to do with us, and for us. Have a bit of cheeky fun. Sing some love songs. Maybe get a little rock 'n' roll. And by god, we WILL wear frocks!!! Everything doesn't have to be so hard. And it's good.
