Prompt: "A song with an unexpected instrument"
Selected by Dave
"Whole Lotta Love"
Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin II, 1969
As stated during this challenge multiple times, I was brought up on and still love classic rock. That said, I haven't paid enough homage to that genre, so I'm going with Led Zeppelin here. "Whole Lotta Love" doesn't feature an unexpected instrument, per se. Rather, it contains a component of an instrument being used in an unconventional way. During the bridge of the song, that haunting scratching you hear is the sound of a violin bow against Jimmy Paige's Les Paul.
