Summer Song Challenge, Day 7: Pat

Prompt: "A song that reminds you of the leaves changing colors"

Selected by Pat

"California Dreamin'"
The Mamas & the Papas
If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears, 1966

I am a hack. This was the first song that came to mind simply because the opening line is "ALL THE LEAVES ARE BROWN." I certainly don't understand the desire to go to California. The whole state is always on fire. Stanford alumni are going to kill us all. I had the shittiest hotdog of my life at Pink's in L.A. Has the world really changed so much in the 60(!) years since this song was written? Or is it simply about that universal human desire to go back to a familiar place? Oh damn, I think I just talked myself through this one.
