I was excited to listen to this album because Perfume Genius would show up on my Spotify shuffle from time to time, and I remember thinking it was decent. Unfortunately, I really struggled to get through this entire record. It was just slow. There wasn’t even a song that I thought was catchy or that stood out to me. I think the guy has a really great voice, but it was just too broadway musical-ly (I know that’s not a word) for my liking. It felt like this could be Josh Groban trying to make an indie record, and failing.
