Version Galore, Sunny

Off in Jamaica, there's a semi-tourist trap in Rick's Cafe, where you can get so-so food, pretty good drinks, and relatively unsupervised cliff diving. The last item is a big crowd draw, even (or especially) if you eat shit hitting the water.

What else I remember about Jamaica is that the cafes and roadside bars would have playing either 1) American Top 40 or 2) "toasting" as such seen here, with a man (usually) chanting and be-bopping and really having something to say. In the context of a vacation, it does well to set the background score. All's this to say that I have absolutely no remarks or ability to judge as to whether this U-Roy album is good or bad, per se, but that it hits that island vibe well enough. Some familiar, some different, some same song with different meaning.
