Drexel student radio used to have at least one guy—might have been two—who would play wall-to-wall dancehall music on Sunday mornings. Thing is, it was praise music. Dancehall for Jesus. Not as much about moving your body as moving your spirit to repent for sins. I loved listening to it, loved the little peak into a fractional slice of the island music pie. Anyway, I suppose if you know enough about dancehall you can hear the ODB-levels of charisma that U-Roy brings to his off-end verses. If you don't know anything, you can at least understand what Bradley Nowell found so captivating about this light, consistent good times music, can at least see how Diplo decided to maximize it for white Americans.
My baby used to dance underneath my architecture, we lost track of space, we lost track of time.
