This Is My Blood: Asbury Park Stout / Tripel Horse / Workhorse Cranberry Wheat

typing on my phone here so bear with me im sitting here at foodery and im trying to block my tater tots as i sit downwind of some fucking flat-cap-wearing hipster motherfcker flicking his cigarette all wanton like the little bitch that his is and its reminding me of the smell of some dive bar i was at a thousand years ago except this isnt no fucking dive bar this is a goddamn bottle shop that sells good brunch too and im sitting outside because im not tryn to get the corona and i dont mind sitting outside in the cold if thats healthy but tell that to the cancerstick shitbird in front of me on a tinder date or whatever and anyway here comes my meal—sausage egg and cheese on a 6"roll cept the sausage is the NOLA kind spelled andouine or something like that i don't have spellcheck on my phone, its good and it complements the beer well, the beer meaning 3 beers if we r being honest, im bored on this sunday afternoon and i dont regret it though i may have only gotten 2 if i knew i was going to have to participate in Ash wednesday while i drank them, and maybe i wouldve stopped at 2 as well if i wasnt convinced by the chalkboard behind the register to get the brunch deal that included the sandwich and the tots and a 9oz pour of whatever draft beer u want, can't say no to a good beer deal at 12p, 8 bucks cant really beat it, im sitting at my barrel now, the 1 that i can never seem to get comfortable at which is maybe the 1 downfall of foodery an otherwise sterling no-miss lunchspot, so im straddling the barrel so that i mite as well be humping it as masked rittenhousers amble by, and im drinking my beers one after another in between breakfast bites, so lets talk about the beers since thats why we r all here i suppose, 1st up asbury park stout, asbury park being of course where our lord/savior bruce is cut his teeth in his youth, you know bruce, he's the guy who scored a number one hit by grumbling into a microphone to save starving children, getting off track sorry this is a stout, an irish stout, the likes of which i havent had in quite some time, you know irish stouts, its basically a guinness, everyone only knows guinness, well asbury park does a nice imitation and for real i wish other breweries would give irish stouts a shot, you dont see many of them aroudn, i guess maybe the recipe is complicated or something, but i love how dry these things are, like how chapstick has shards of glass in it so that you keep going back to ur chapstick more and more often, here 2 ur drinking more and more irish stouts because they make you thirstier and thirstier for more more irish stouts, and so anyway i was only treated to 9oz of this great beer before i moved on to a tripel, which i guess tends to be a sortve go-2 when im at foodery, since these american-made belgian beers are usually moderately priced and high on the ol' ABV, so im getting more bang for my buck as they say, especially if the government only alots me X amount of time for lunch so i gotta pack in as much ABV as i can before returning re:grind, this was 1 of the better tripels ive had here, better than the combo of tripels i had last time anyway, the tripel horse with a better balance of fruity yeast and sharp spicy hops, so im feel right good at this point and the tots are hitting the spot with the spicy curry ketchup that they include with it n i should mention i wasnt even gonna get tots bc the menu said homefries and i am not a fan of those i might as well eat potato-flavored packing peanuts but then the cashier nicely informed me that they have been substituting tots for a while and so y dont they jsut include them neway n i said ok and so that was how i got tots i know right great worthy info right there thanks joey ok so back to the beer here is my final 1 of the day and its 15 minutes left in lunch and so im really packing it in here at the barrel and my buttons on my button-down are groaning and i really need to go on a diet soon but not b4 i hit this cranberry wheat which i mentioned in the thnxgiving post the other day as the perfect beer to pair w/turkeyday meal and friends and family i was right on the money, nice fresh tart it would go spankingly with the classic bird on the 4th thurs of november and ill admit it went slightly less spankingly with just a full stomach and a quick sprint back to the office to clock back in on time but no regrets, neways this has been poyb reproting from the field and im left wondering what drew me to pick two beers that had to do with horses but and so neways i wish u adoo as we sign off
