Today was Fake Easter, meaning that Willow got her Easter candy and menial gifts this morning instead of tomorrow, when I'm scheduled for work. This also meant that the grandparents wanted to come over and visit today. You know the deal with that. Not possible.
It's not possible (or rather, safe/ethical) to have physical contact with anyone outside the home, so the solution was to just keep our guests outside the home. Grampop and Mom Mom stood outside on the stoop, separated by a glass door pane from their grandkids and son and daughter-in-law.
I washed my hands, then took two Miller Lites out of the fridge, and washed them with soap and water. I put them and two koozies in a ziploc bag, and placed the bag in the mailbox, so that when my parents arrived, they could grab their beers. Meanwhile me and Pam drank our beers (Sylvie Stout and Blue Moon, respectively), from the other side of the door. Willow blew bubbles; Martha puked all over the place.
I love my family. I'm not the type of person who needs to talk to them or hang out with them every day, but days like Easter are supposed to be days when you hang out with family, ya know? And we couldn't, not really. But we tried our best, yelling through the door.
Weirdest fucking happy hour.
