This Is My Beer: Bud Light

Let's take this seriously.

I poured my Bud Light in a tapered pilsner glass (seen above), which is a type of glass I neglected to mention when I was talking about the different beer glass styles. The narrow shape of the glass supports foam head, which is necessary for cold pilsners that may not have all that much of a head to begin with. In addition, the footed design "adds elegance"—a word you thought you'd never hear in connection with Bud Light.

It was poured from an aluminum bottle with a screw-on cap, designed to keep your beer cold if for some reason it takes you more than fifteen minutes to drink it. American mass-produced lagers should typically be enjoyed at 38-40ish degrees, i.e. the coldest temperature any beer should ever be (remember, the heavier/darker, the warmer it should be). I used a thermometer to clock this beer at 43.9 degrees, which can't be right—our fridge is so cold that seltzers routinely explode. Pam speculated that the thermometer I used wasn't meant for liquids, and thus gave an inaccurate reading. This shit was cold. Cold enough, anyway, so if it was indeed accurate, then fuck the extra 3.9 degrees.

Bud Light, unlike its mass-produced rivals, is made with rice (for profit-margin purposes, I'm sure). Knowing this, I've tasted the rice in the past. However, recently (and I can't remember where) I read that Bud Light has subtle hints of banana, and this has fucked with my brain. I can't untaste it. I drank the Bud Light today and truly tasted the banana. (Apparently Coors Light has an apple taste. TBD at a later date.)

But for the most part, this beer was crisp and overwhelmingly flavorless besides the general taste of "beer." That's fine. I'm cool with that. In fact, having only one beer per day might actually make me appreciate beers like Bud Light more. Having ten Bud Lights might be a shitty experience, but one single beer through the whole day? In that scenario, Bud Light tastes amazing. It hits the motherfucking spot.

I would also be okay with this being my only Bud Light in 2020.
