Summer Song Challenge, Day 99: Pam

Prompt: "A song about endings"

Selected by Pam

"Age Six Racer"
Dashboard Confessional
The Swiss Army Romance, 2000

I've gathered that there aren't too many Dashboard fans in the bunch here at SSC, but these were my jams back in the day. I swooned when my high school crush burned me a copy of The Swiss Army Romance for my birthday. Yes, these songs are so corny, but they meant a lot to me then. I still enjoy them. I've seen Dashboard in concert a few times. I once saw Saves the Day open for Dashboard, which was incredible and, in hindsight has become a bit like the time I saw Destiny's Child open for Christina Aguilera. Saves the Day are bigger in my mind.

"Age Six Racer" is one of his corniest songs, but it fits this prompt so so well. It's probably not even in my top ten of Dashboard songs, but it really is just perfect for today:

"Hey thanks, thanks for that summer. It's cold where you're going, I hope that your heart's always warm. I gave you the best, gave you the best that I had..."

I mean it guys. This was a blast! See ya next summer.
