This song is something. I don't know if I love it or hate it. Gregory is in pain, and only the night nurse can "quench his thirst." I sure hope he knows his night nurse. Maybe she's his girlfriend or wife, instead of us assuming that Gregory is a creep. Is he even actually sick? Or is this a "doctor doctor give me the news, I've got a bad case of loving you" scenario?
As a former night nurse for many years, being hit on by creepy men is unfortunately part of the job sometimes. Especially in a neuro unit, where many of the patients have literally stroked out the part of their brain that acts as their filter. Some of the things I've heard over the years would make a sailor blush.
Sometimes patients return to the unit to visit months later, recovered, and with little to no memory of their time spent there. That's the nice thing about their afflictions. Amnesia is the right thing for the brain to do in many cases. Who wants to remember the hell on earth that is being an ICU patient for a month? The nurses remember though. The night nurses especially, since that's when the patients usually go wild. But we would never hold it against them, even Gregory. And we'd even quench his thirst... with some nice ice water. Yep. Don't believe what they tell you. Being a nurse IS sexy.
