Prompt: "The song to play at your funeral"
Selected by Dave
"Believe"
Yellowcard
Ocean Avenue, 2003
I think about this more than I should, but I never have an answer for myself. I don't think along the lines of church songs though. My mom has gone on record saying she wants "On Eagles Wings" played at her funeral. It's a classic church song, and one that I no longer like because I don’t want to think of my mom's death. I think I'd want "Believe" by Yellowcard played at my funeral. I want everybody in attendance to know that "everything is going to be alright." It's an upbeat song with shades of emotion. They opened with this song when I saw them at the Factory in 2004. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. The Format and Something Corporate opened that night. The friend I went with passed away a few years back, which is another reason why that show sticks out in my mind. We had lost touch by the time he passed, so I didn't attend his funeral. I do wonder what songs were played.
