Summer Song Challenge, Day 41: Sam

Prompt: "A song that you'd share with your grandmother"

Selected by Sam

"Falling Slowly"
Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová
Once (Music from the Motion Picture), 2007

Luckily, my grandmother is still with us. She has lived long enough to meet her great-granddaughter named after her. She's not as with it as she once was (who is?), so I'm not sure how receptive she would be to anything new that's not the Kardashians or MSNBC.

But I have a good handle on things she likes (Paul Simon) and doesn't (Bob Dylan’s voice). Also, she dislikes Jane Fonda for her Vietnam War position (disrespectful to the troops rather than favoring the war), so no protest songs.

This Oscar winner and spine chiller would check some boxes: Irish, understandable lyrics, not a protest song. I’ve connected with many over the film Once. I hope Nanny would like it too.

Also, I saw the reunion tour last year with Glen and Marketa. They still got it!
