Just as Olivia starts this album out, I too would like to "make is messy." This album, in my opinion, is an ideal pop-punk album full of bangers. Is it the best written album I've ever heard... that's a hell no, but it will be on full rotation during this shot girl summer.
Opening with "brutal," we have a super angsty song about how hard life is for a Disney (plus) star. How relatable (mostly about not knowing how to parallel park). This song feels like something I heard in 10 Things I Hate About You when Kat is showing how edgy she is.
The song we all came here for, "drivers license," still absolutely slaps. EVERY TIME. I really enjoyed the mellow pace of "1 step forward, 3 steps back." Even though it's slow, it still has such a catchy melody that keeps drawing me back in. And heck, if I was in high school, I probably would have read way too much into this song and thought she was writing about a boy I loved.
My favorite song on the album (currently) is "jealousy, jealousy." I don’t know if it's the repetition of words or the pop synth background that just gets me going. 10/10 would recommend rolling down all the windows of your car and just absolutely belting this one out!
Overall I think this is a fun first album of a girl who had her heart broken by a theater boy. I do find it funny how much these songs speak to me as a 29-year-old fully fledged adult but here we are...
I would give this album 3.69 ⭐️
